GO Rules are a way of documenting the set of filters and reports that should apply to GAF annotation data. Some rules are expressed as SPARQL on a triplestore, some are code in the GAF parsing software, ontobio.

GORULE
Local identifiers in Gene Ontology Rules should match this
regular expression:
^\d{7}$
Compact URIs (CURIEs) constructed from Gene Ontology Rules should match

^GORULE:\d{7}$
A provider turns a local unique identifiers from a resource into a URI. Many providers are also resolvable as URLs (i.e., they can be used in a web browser).
The local unique identifier 0000004
is used to demonstrate the providers
available for Gene Ontology Rules. A guide for curating additional providers can be found
here.
