UNITE is a fungal rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence database. It focuses on high-quality ITS sequences generated from fruiting bodies collected and identified by experts and deposited in public herbaria. Entries may be supplemented with metadata on describing locality, habitat, soil, climate, and interacting taxa.

A provider turns a local unique identifiers from a resource into a URI. Many providers are also resolvable as URLs (i.e., they can be used in a web browser).
The local unique identifier UDB000691
is used to demonstrate the providers
available for Molecular database for the identification of fungi. A guide for curating additional providers can be found
here.
Additional providers curated in the Bioregistry are listed here. These are typically inherited from Identifiers.org or Prefix Commons, and need extra curation.
