The MEROPS database is an information resource for peptidases (also termed proteases, proteinases and proteolytic enzymes) and the proteins that inhibit them. These are hierarchically classified and assigned to a Family on the basis of statistically significant similarities in amino acid sequence. Families thought to be homologous are grouped together in a Clan. This collection references peptidase families.

Local identifiers in MEROPS Family should match this
regular expression:
^[SCTAGMNU]\d+$
Compact URIs (CURIEs) constructed from MEROPS Family should match
this regular expression:
^merops\.family:[SCTAGMNU]\d+$
The metaregistry provides mappings between the Bioregistry and other registries. There are 3 mappings to external registries for this resource with 1 unique external prefixes.

is used to demonstrate the provides available for
this resource. Generation of OLS and BioPortal URLs requires additional programmatic
logic beyond string formatting.
