The Woody Plant Ontology lists reference variables used for experimentations and observations on woody plants (forest trees and shrubs, and possibly fruit trees). It is an international initiative based on various communities (French, Portuguese and European). Terms are collected from various sources and organized following the Crop Ontology standard which provides harmonized variables composed by a triplet: (i) a trait, the studied character, (ii) a method, the measurement protocol and (iii) a scale, the unit of measurement or scoring scale.
