In deriving canine induced pluripotent stem cells, colonies expanded in media with LIF, FGF2, or both showed similar growth. However, only those in LIF plus FGF2 exhibited strong alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity, indicating pluripotency. This suggests a synergistic effect of LIF and FGF2 in maintaining pluripotency, highlighting their essential role in canine iPSC culture.
