Summary
Enables several functions, including heparan sulfate proteoglycan binding activity; heparin binding activity; and protein tyrosine phosphatase activity. Involved in several processes, including lymphocyte differentiation; regulation of macromolecule metabolic process; and regulation of signal transduction. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including T cell activation; positive regulation of lymphocyte activation; and regulation of protein phosphorylation. Located in external side of plasma membrane; focal adhesion; and membrane raft. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; cardiovascular system; hemolymphoid system; placenta; and skin. Used to study Alzheimer's disease and systemic lupus erythematosus. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in multiple sclerosis; primary immunodeficiency disease; and severe combined immunodeficiency. Orthologous to human PTPRC (protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type C). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jan 2025]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
