Summary
Enables copper ion binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of neuron apoptotic process. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cellular response to chromate; cellular response to zinc ion; and cellular zinc ion homeostasis. Located in cytosol and lysosome. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; early conceptus; genitourinary system; liver; and nasal cavity epithelium. Orthologous to several human genes including MT1A (metallothionein 1A); MT1E (metallothionein 1E); and MT1F (metallothionein 1F). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2022]
Expression
Broad expression in liver E14.5 (RPKM 1065.3), stomach adult (RPKM 765.6) and 21 other tissues See more

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
